 Company Overview

Dealership Management Systems, Inc. (DMS) was founded in 1976 as C & S Software by partners Bob Stevens and Larry Christensen. The company formed to provide dealership management solutions for auto dealerships in its local, Pocatello, Idaho region. In 1985, after ten years of controlled growth, C & S Software incorporated as DMS. Stevens has continued to mold the company into a nationally recognized, highly respected competitor in dealership management solutions.

Throughout the history of DMS, the employees have given the company its shape and defined its success. Eric Hymas, chief financial officer, reports, "We weathered changes in hardware architecture, marketing strategies and vendor relationships. We've kept abreast of the technological changes and innovations in hardware. We have grown the product and through it all, ninety percent of our clients have grown with us and remained loyal." Following a successful marketing relationship with Burroughs/Unisys, DMS turned "blue" in 1990 and now enjoys the benefits of a prestigious Business Partner relationship with IBM Corporation. The technical staff at DMS takes pride in adapting to changing computer technology and has fully exploited the capabilities of IBM's RISC System 6000 platform. Operating as a remarketer for IBM allows DMS to offer its own computer programs and IBM's advanced computer products as an integrated package, with unsurpassed hardware and software support.. Marketing at DMS has proven itself by building an extremely loyal customer base of dealerships in fourteen states. National referrals and word-of-mouth sales attest to the sophistication and expertise of the company in this highly competitive niche market.

The DMS package is the most advanced, comprehensive computer solution available for the dealership environment. Although the system is designed primarily for the automotive industry, it has easily been adapted for other environments such as large truck, truck equipment, farm implement and heavy equipment dealerships. The system is comprised of a series of modules based upon departmental needs with an emphasis on interdepartment integration.
